1. Success in marriage is not a gift, rather it is a deliberate choice made by the wise.
Marital success cannot be handed over to you as a gift nor can it be prayed into manifestation by speaking in tongues. Marital success is achieved as a result of a couple’s decision to put in the work required to make the marriage work. It is not a by-product of age, education looks, emotions or feelings. Rather, it is a deliberate choice to make things work
It is therefore a decision that requires responsibilities and would by extension outlive your feelings and emotions.
2. Marital Success Requires Compromise.
It requires a whole lot of compromise from both couples. It entails giving up on each other’s rights at particular times. So, the ability to let go of certain things is key, particularly in the interest of the love both couples share and the success of the home.
Marital success is built on a series of give and take. The willingness to let go and make sacrifices is very crucial.
3. Marital Success Requires Forgiveness.
To have a successful marriage, couples must increase their capacity to forgive and let go of grudges and slights. Lessons from marriages that have spanned years and stood the test of time will always allude to forgiveness as one of marriage’s best practices. Marriages where one or both parties easily take offense will not stand the test of time.
When you admire couples whose marriages have stood the test of time and are worthy of emulation, remember that they have had to encounter and overcome similar challenges that you may be passing through. But the willingness to make things work will go a long way to having a blissful marriage.
